This doesn't mean the alternative doesn't work either, as "Something Inside" is a whirlwind of severing tremolos and coherent vitriol.
Cypecore - Innocent
Nifty keyboard effects and a stronger emphasis on structure as opposed to overt pummeling makes it a standout. The performances are solid and gel coherently with well-meaning and suitable production values, but I have trouble finding a use for Cypecore on the whole.
I don't hate this band, but they can be a frustrating listen if you are aware of similar, superior outfits. The quintet describes its music as melodic industrial death metal which sounds quite unique, and while the former makes sense, the latter is in my opinion debatable. Few newcomer bands have achieved already such a degree of maturity after only one year of existence. Inspired by the Gothenburg school of death metal, it is undeniable that the cybernetic metal sound of Fear Factory has also left strong traces.

It is nice to see a melodeath band deliver more punishing goods, but Innocent sounds stylistically out of its comfort zone at most junctures, coming off as a standard, uneventful exercise in the pedestrian and mundane.
As briefly touched upon in my review for Take the Consequencethese Germans are certainly heavier than most in their field, and I can get behind many of the band's eccentricies, as they most definitely fall somewhat closer to straight up death metal, all the while holding just enough melodic appeal to appease the kiddies.

The electronics come off as an afterthought logjammed into the proceedings to gel with the dystopian atmosphere. Otherwise we get boomy, stock melodic cypecorw that doesn't even have the presence of mind to shake and bake with some killer groove intervals.
The post-apocalyptic atmosphere I have come to expect from these guys is still faintly here, and there are definitely moments wherein the burly verve of the guitars falls into sequence with the keyboards and honestly decent drumming. Take the Consequence featured a pretty handy industrial beginning, but Innocent fumbles the synthetic ball in this regard.
Innocent is a more than just promising debut, and I am quite certain that Cypecore will work hard to develop their own sound more strongly. Cypecore cypevore definitely done a great job on Innoceny.
Cypecore have to be one of the most standard melodic death metal bands I have ever come across. So if you come in expecting this band to experiment with a lot of programming and synths, look elsewhere. I am already quite eager to hear what they will have to offer on their next album. The album starts with a nearly four minute long synthesizer intro which sets the mood for the intended futuristic atmosphere, but would have done its service also in half the time. I do appreciate this record sonically, however. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, and "Signs" is probably the strongest contender in this regard, but the band seems to be playing it far too safe in this regard, and it comes off as somewhat forced and facetious as a result.
CYPECORE - Innocent
They execute their style with a modicum of panache and are reliable from a certain perspective. Only the slightly longer …And Death Was Nothing To Him surprises with an unexpected build-up that inevitably will get your attention.
Almost solid, but doesn't quite work for me.

The only drawback is a certain lack of originality. Moments like this include sections of the jnnocent track and most of "Mission," which is probably the most complete track here.

They also earn some brownie points for testing the boundaries of the visual aspect of their performance. One year after their inception inGerman metal band Cypecore already self-released their debut Innocenrwhich awed the people at Twilight Records so much that they give it another go two years later. For the curious only.
Too strong are the shadows of their influences, leaving the youngsters sounding too often like a Swedish death metal band like In Flames or At The Gates teaming up with Fear Factory. Still, I can't eject the thought that something greater could come from their sound, which treads the high wire between standard, European-influenced pandering and industrially-permeated gear cyoecore.
